Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is a specific technique developed by Sally Kay BSc (Hons) who has been working in cancer care and whom I’ve had the privilege to meet during a two days course this month in Dublin.
After being treated for breast cancer women may develop swelling in the arm which is a condition called secondary lymphoedema. Lymphoedema is defined as tissue swelling due to lymph drainage failure. This condition can be painful and very stressing.
The aim of the Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is to stimulate the function of the lymphatic system and to eliminate excess of lymph from the damaged area.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is not limited to women who had breast cancer but can be beneficial in other auto-immune disorders and other inflammatory conditions, and also during pregnancy such as
- Chronic fatigue
- Sinus problems
- Allergies (asthma, hay fever, sinusitis)
- Muscular tension
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Skin disorders (eczema, psoriasis, alopecia)
- Digestive disorder (IBS, colitis….)
- Pregnancy related oedema
- Premenstrual syndrome PMS
